Honest visuals: ethics in data visualisation

Data visualisation is as susceptible to misinterpretation and manipulation as any other communication method. This talk will focus on how to spot misleading visuals, prevent biases when selecting the context and visualisation, and ensure data and visual literacy to prevent misinformation. Xaquín will also highlight good practices in visualisation and present some real recent examples of COVID-19 visuals in the media.

Getting started with the Interoperability Test Bed

The course is designed to offer knowledge and skills necessary to implement conformance and interoperability systems testing for semantic and technical aspects using the Interoperability Test Bed, and to put in place appropriate tools and resources. The Interoperability Test Bed is a service offered by the European Commission. The Test Bed is a software that can be downloaded and installed locally, but also reused through a shared online installation operated by the Commission.

FAIR AI procurement process: the Helsinki way forward

Mr. Timo Ruohomäki, from Forum Virium Helsinki, presents his contribution on the Helsinki’s way forward to a FAIR AI Procurement process. The first part of the presentation focused on how to build trust with transparency. The City of Helsinki AI Register2 from Helsinki was explained, as a fundamental part of the fact that when we get AI it is embedded in products and services, and for that reason it is necessary to be transparent. In addition, this has to be explained in a way that lay citizens can understand. The Helsinki AI Register satisfies these two functions.
