Context

The European political party Volt is organising the open Digital Democracy in Action event as part of the Volt Discussion Series (VDS). Both Volt-members and non-members are welcome.

Three panels will discuss important topics regarding the digital transformation of society together with Volt EP candidates and representatives, experts, and other guests.

The Monitoring and Measuring Working Group of Living-in.EU is organising its first meeting in 2024 on Friday 31 May 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00 (CEST). This event will be held online only and will be open to all interested participants.  

The meeting will tackle the existing initiatives and projects implemented at European, regional and local levels to measure and monitor digital transformation. Organised as a comprehensive information session, it aims at:  

Through an innovative legal instrument, the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (“EDIC”), EU Member States can now work closer together in steering the implementation and use of digital technologies. The recently established EDIC “Networked Local Digital Twins Towards the CitiVerse” will drive innovation to local and regional environments throughout the EU by adopting cutting-edge AI-based technologies. This Pre-launch session will provide participants with information and the opportunity to exchange ideas on the EDIC development.

The Open & Agile Smart Cities & Communities (OASC) network is proud to host its annual Summit on the 3rd and 4th of June 2024 in Rotterdam! This year’s theme, connecting local digital ecosystems through interoperability, highlights our commitment to support cities and local communities to collaborate on digital transformation via the fluent sharing of data in and between cities and local communities. We’ll look into the strategies, processes and technologies that can help cities to do that.

Join us for an enriching experience at the upcoming open meeting hosted by the Education and Capacity Building working group of the Living.in-EU movement. During our second meeting of the year, we will delve into exciting developments from our sister project, CommuniCity.The toolkit developed through this initiative will be showcased and participants will be engaged in a collaborative session to identify hindering and enabling factors during open calls and piloting.

The ALL DIGITAL Weeks 2024 international launch event titled “What’s next for Digital Skills? Beyond the European Year of Skills and the European Elections” is taking place on 14 May (14.30 to 17.30) in Brussels (Rue Montoyer 51).

CommuniCity is a transformative citizen-centred EU funded project. It will launch 100 Tech Pilots in Europe in urban and peri-urban areas to empower marginalised communities.Working together with companies, organisations, associations, tech providers, and citizens the aim is to develop solutions to overcome digital and urban challenges. 

CommuniCity Open Calls

The European Summit of Regions and Cities is back for its 10th edition, coinciding with the European Committee of the Regions' 30th anniversary. From March 18th to 19th, Mons, Belgium, will host this dynamic gathering where local and regional leaders will discuss democracy, sustainable development, EU enlargement, and the aftermath of the Ukraine conflict.
