As part of the Support Services for EU Smart communities, the European Commission has the goal to “Increase Digitalisation Awareness and Readiness of EU Communities”. The aim of this initiative is to support EU communities at the early stages or that have not yet begun their digital transformation journey by providing resources, best practices, and training to develop digital strategies.

Agência para a Modernização Administrativa (AMA) is contributing to this initiative as a member of the Smart Communities Network: the network of networks endorsed by the European Commission, whose primary goal is to involve all EU local communities in the European green and digital transformation.

On 9 October 2024, with the support of a consortium of organisations, the Portuguese network held a hybrid dissemination session to engage with their cities and local communities and enhance the awareness and preparedness of Portuguese communities in their digital and green transition journey.

Following the hybrid dissemination session on October 9th, 2024, at the Portugal Smart Cities Summit, our goal is to hold three online training sessions (planning, preparation and empowerment) to engage our respective cities and local communities, in order to improve their awareness and preparedness in their journey towards ecological and digital transition.

02 july 2025 | 11:00 - 12:30 WET | Preparation Phase  - How to Set Up Your Roadmap Infrastructure
In this session, you will learn about the infrastructure you need in orderto implement your digitalisation roadmap and ultimately a Local Digital Platform andLocal Digital Twins, with the help of available Minimum Interoperability Mechanisms,as well as open source tools available through the EU Local Digital Twins Toolbox.

03 july 2025 | 11:00 - 12:30 WET | Empowerment Phase - How the Living-in.EU Community Supports You
In this session, local and regional authorities will learn how the Living-in.EU community and network can support them in their digital and greentransition through knowledge sharing, discovery of EU resources and tools, andexchange with EU peers. Moreover, learning available funding opportunities and howto apply and access them.

The sessions will be facilitated in Portuguese.
