FREE Webinar: Exploring Local Electricity Communities with Gridly

This online webinar, organised by ENoLL’s Digital Urban Systems and Solutions for Transition Working Group, introduces Gridly, an interactive simulation tool designed by HSLU (Hochschule Luzern) to make local electricity communities and local energy markets easier to understand, explore, and discuss.

Gridly uses a hands-on, scenario-based approach to help participants experiment with innovative energy models such as peer-to-peer electricity trading and energy flexibility. By allowing users to make decisions and immediately observe their impact within a simulated local energy ecosystem, the tool helps demystify complex energy dynamics while fostering energy literacy, critical thinking, and citizen engagement.

During the webinar, participants will be introduced to the concept of Local Electricity Communities (LECs), the purpose and development of the Gridly tool, and key technical and social insights gained through its design and testing. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how different community configurations affect energy flows, costs, grid independence, and local electricity market dynamics. The session will conclude with a co-creation activity, inviting participants to reflect on the tool’s usefulness and suggest improvements for real-world application.
