The Romanian Smart City Association (ARSC), established in 2016, is the leading authority in promoting and developing Smart City concepts in Romania. ARSC is dedicated to transforming urban and rural communities into smart, sustainable, and citizen-focused ecosystems by fostering collaboration between public authorities, academia, and private sector stakeholders. With over 300 members and partners, ARSC remains a catalyst for innovation and smart development in the region.

ARSC has implemented numerous projects and initiatives focused on digitalization and smart community development. Key programs include: - City Air: A program that monitors air quality in schools, raising awareness about environmental health and promoting data-driven decision-making. - Digital Inclusion Center: Aims to develop digital skills and improve access to technology and information for citizens, bridging the digital divide. - Romania Without Counters: Focuses on digitalizing public services to streamline bureaucratic processes and enhance interactions between citizens and authorities. - Smart City Academy: ARSC offers educational resources and training for public authorities, businesses, and citizens, equipping stakeholders with the tools and knowledge needed to implement innovative solutions. ARSC has also created the Smart City Project Map, a pilot program tracking and evaluating Smart City projects across Romania, providing insights into progress and opportunities in the sector. Collaboration is at the core of ARSC's mission. The association works closely with government institutions, private companies, and local communities to facilitate access to EU funding and support the implementation of digital transformation projects. Its initiatives align with European best practices, ensuring that Romanian communities adopt state-of-the-art solutions tailored to their specific needs. ARSC’s efforts have significantly advanced the digitalization of Romanian communities, enhancing public service efficiency, fostering sustainable development, and improving citizens' quality of life.
