Local Digital Twins for Smart and Sustainable Communities
Local Digital Twins for Smart and Sustainable Communities (LDT4SSC) is advancing smart living across Europe by developing interconnected digital twins that replicate cities and communities in virtual form. These models support better planning, decision-making and understanding of real environments. The project collaborates closely with key European initiatives — including the EU Local Digital Twin Toolbox, GAIA-X and CitiVERSE — to create a unified and interoperable ecosystem. Through these combined efforts, regions are better equipped to address major societal and environmental challenges, from climate action to energy efficiency. Central to the project is a strong commitment to people-centred, ethical and reliable AI, ensuring that digital innovation contributes to more sustainable and healthier communities.
