Exploring the Future of Digitalisation: Join Us for a Workshop and Debate on Community Engagement and Public Management

We are excited to announce an upcoming side event on Smart Communities: AI, Digital Transition, and Social Change taking place at the Open Living Lab Days 2024. The event will delve into the intersection of technological innovation, public management, and citizen participation. Co-organised by the projects Go Li.EU (Living-in.EU) and CommuniCity, this event promises to foster community engagement and explore the implications of digitalisation in public management.

When: 24 September 2024, 9:00 – 12:30

Where: Advanced Environmental Research Institute (ICAM), Timisoara, Romania

FREE Participation

The session is divided into two main parts: a Workshop and a Debate, each designed to offer participants valuable insights and practical tools for navigating the digital transition in urban settings.

Workshop: Engaging Citizens in the Digital Transition

In the interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to CommuniCity’s methodological approach—a comprehensive framework that guides the process from identifying challenges of cities to implementing effective solutions. This session will highlight strategies for engaging citizens in driving social and digital transitions within cities and regions. Attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate on developing solutions that can be implemented in their own communities.

Additionally, two manuals on conducting open calls and pilots will be presented, providing practical guidance for those looking to lead similar initiatives.

Debate: The Social Implications of Digital Transition

The second part of the event will feature a dynamic debate focusing on the social implications of digital transition and the use of big data in public management. Key topics of discussion will include:

  • Ethical considerations and the potential benefits of digital innovations in urban environments.
  • Challenges and opportunities presented by big data in enhancing public services.

This debate will offer a platform for thought leaders and participants to explore the broader societal impacts of digitalisation and share insights on how to navigate these changes responsibly.
