How to Accelerate the Shift to Climate Neutrality? Designing Inclusive Solutions for Regions
While the transition to climate neutrality is urgently needed, the strategies to achieve this goal remain less defined. The event aims to discuss inclusive solutions for designing and implementing strategies for this fundamental systemic change.
The TRANSFORMER project, explore new ways of accelerating the shift towards climate neutrality through the Transition Super-Lab approach. It considers entire regions as living laboratories, Transition Super-Labs, in which new ways of transformation towards a climate-neutral future can be developed, tested and implemented. Working with four regions - the Ruhr Area, DE, Emilia-Romagna, IT, Lower Silesia, PL and Western Macedonia, GR - the goal is to facilitate the shift from fossil-fuel-based to zero-carbon local economies. Transition Super-Labs bring together various stakeholders of a region: universities, municipalities, companies, and civil society organisations to work in new cooperation formats and expedite systemic transformation toward climate neutrality.
To ensure that the knowledge created within TRANSFORMER inspires further projects and is adopted by other regions, we believe it is essential to facilitate a debate between actors from across Europe and different societal sectors about Transition Super-Labs and their role in Europe’s green transition. At the event we aim to demonstrate the significance of the Transition Super-Lab approach, share our findings from almost one and a half years of project work, and discuss among other things, how regions can be the key transformers for a just and inclusive systemic change.
