The EU LDT Toolbox: Practical benefits for smart cities and communities

About

Local Digital Twins (LDT) are emerging as solutions that cities and communities in Europe use for complex urban challenges like mobility planning or energy efficiency: As a virtual replica of assets and processes in cities, LDTs visualise and simulate scenarios based on real-time data, allowing city planners to make informed decisions.

The EU LDT Toolbox aims to support cities in setting up LDTs. As a set of open-source tools for data collection and analysis, simulation and visualisation, the Toolbox is expected to help cities comply with EU regulations, ensure interoperability between systems and countries, and create user-centric and sustainable services for their residents. The Toolbox also facilitates an ecosystem of collaboration, giving innovators and cities a space to share developments and re-use them in different use cases and scenarios.

The Toolbox is currently being piloted with selected cities with the aim to validate and improve them by June 2026.

Objective of the session

In this session, the developers of the toolbox will present it and provide a live demo. Participants will learn more about the pilot phase in which some of the tools are being tested.
