Innovation Movement VEFRESH
VEFRESH was established in 2019 by the leading IT companies in Latvia - Latvian Mobile Telecom, Accenture, SEB Global Services, as well as TET, which all drive smart city development and digitalisation from the private sector in Latvia. Two of those partners - LMT and Tet are actively involved in building capacity for digital twins in Latvia. Our task has been to facilitate, expand and mature the open innovation by actively supporting development digitalisation across innovation silos. In 2019 VEFRESH signed an MoU with Riga City Council, the Ministry of Economics and the Office of European Commission in Latvia and has been building on the mutual commitment by connecting parties across public, private and academic sectors (triple helix approach to innovation). VEFRESH cooperates with cities and public institutions, including Riga and Liepaja, the two climate neutral cities and their respective agencies. Both the cities of Liepaja and Riga are also actively involved in planning and creating their digital twin development projects.
Since its inception in 2019, VEFRESH has closely worked with the leading Latvian cities Riga, Liepaja, public sector institutions -Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, Ministry of Transport. In line with its founding members, VEFRESH has broad access to private businesses operating in the mobility and digitalisation sector.
Being the lead partner of EIT UM Hub Latvia, and partner in leading smart city conferences and events, for the last five years VEFRESH has built and extended a broad list of contacts in public, private and academic sector in Latvia, as well as contacts in the Baltics and many EU RIS countries.
VEFRESH leads hackathons, incubators and accelerators and by doing so has access to the startup community operating in the area of digitalisation.
