Living-in.EU is looking forward to actively participating in this year's Smart City Expo World Congress, taking place from 4 to 6 November 2025 in Barcelona!

The Congress programme will feature a wide array of topics and debates, among them Living-in.EU's breakout session on GenAI in European cities. But also Living-in.EU partner organisations, related projects, and the European Commission will be present at the Expo area throughout the Congress.

Its mission to create a harmonised ecosystem around Digital Twins has already officially started with the creation of the legal entity and with the recently launched BUILD project as a driving force for its establishment. On the background of the EU Democracy Shield initiative, cities will exchange their experiences and discuss approaches to better respond to threats, and to continue enabling citizen participation in offline and online spaces. 17:00 – 17:45  Rethinking urban spaces: A policy dialogue  Eurocities  Move Better stage Across Europe, cities are reimagining urban spaces to boost road safety, support sustainable mobility, and meet climate goals. This session brings together city leaders and policymakers to explore how space reallocation can build more resilient cities. It is part of the REALLOCATE project under the EU’s CIVITAS Initiative and supports the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

Through digital twins, AI simulations, and interoperable platforms, our projects’ Lighthouse Cities optimize energy efficiency, smart buildings, and sustainable mobility to meet climate goals. Experts share tools, strategies, and lessons to inspire replication for climate-neutral urban futures.

15:35 – 16:20  Increasing the uptake of AI for Smarter Cities: from pilots to impact at scale  IMEC, LIST, Aarhus Citylab, LDT Citiverse EDIC, OASC  Impact Tech stage AI has transformative potential for cities, but scaling from pilots to impactful, city-wide deployments remains a challenge. This TEF Citcom.ai workshop brings together cities and tech providers to explore collaboration strategies. Through case studies and insights from the European TEF for Smart Cities, participants will learn to overcome adoption barriers and scale AI for societal impact.
