News| Published: 23 Sep 2025

The European Interoperability Framework (EIF) sets standards and guidance on designing digital public services that work seamlessly across systems and borders. The European Commission, together with an informal expert group, is now working on the new version of the EIF to integrate new developments in digital technology.

As local and regional public authorities, you have the opportunity to contribute to the new version of the EIF: By participating in the consultation, you can help ensure that the new framework effectively addresses practical needs arising in the implementation and delivery of interoperable digital public services in the EU.

The Commission aims to submit the new version of the EIF to the Interoperable Europe Board for adoption at the end of 2025/beginning of 2026.
