The Geospatial World Forum 2025 (GWF2025) is taking place from 22 to 25 April 2025 in Madrid, Spain.

What is the Geospatial World Forum (GWF)?

GWF is a leading global platform where governments, cities, industries, researchers, and technology innovators come together to explore the transformative potential of geospatial technologies. Held annually, the forum showcases how location intelligence, AI, digital twins, satellite data, and 3D mapping drive smarter decision-making and sustainable growth across climate action, infrastructure, mobility, and urban governance.

The 2024 edition in Rotterdam gathered over 1,200 participants from 80+ countries, highlighting geospatial technologies as essential tools for cities to build resilience, adapt, and lead digital and climate transitions.

Key highlights included:

  • Demos of cutting-edge technologies like AI, real-time mapping, and digital twins for climate adaptation and infrastructure planning.
  • Insights for cities on applying geospatial solutions in sustainable mobility, energy transitions, emergency response, and inclusive urban development.
  • High-level networking that fostered strategic partnerships between cities, businesses, and global institutions.

One of the thematic tracks of the forum is the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Summit taking place on 24-25 April. Eurocities and Living-in.EU will be presented by Karel van Oordt in Session 3: Local to National: The Role of Digital Twins in Strategic Urban Planning and Development on 25 April at 12h00-13h00.

This year’s theme — “Spatial Computing & Digital Twin Enterprise: Accelerating the Future Geospatial Ecosystem” — highlights how real-time data, AI, and digital twins are transforming city planning and operations.

The summit offers a unique opportunity for city leaders, urban planners, and innovators to exchange best practices, explore solutions, and leverage these technologies to drive sustainability and resilience in cities.
