Association of Dutch Municipalities (Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten - VNG)

The VNG supports municipalities and cities in the Netherlands in their digitalisation and smart city initiatives. It facilitates knowledge exchange, advocates for municipal interests at national and EU levels and provides practical tools and guidelines for digital transformation. VNG also organises events and platforms for dialogue to assist local governments in adopting new technologies for sustainable urban development.

Association of Urban Municipalities of Slovenia – AUMS (Združenje mestnih občin Slovenije - ZMOS)

ZMOS has established an Expert Committee for Digitalisation and Smart Cities, which unites the main staff of 12 urban municipalities from this field. ZMOS is an intermediate body for the ITI mechanism for urban development, which includes funds for smart mobility solutions. ZMOS put forward the initiative to establish common digital infrastructure for Slovenian municipalities (cloud solutions, unifying the use of standards, solutions etc.)

Lithuanian Green Municipalities Network

Goals of the network: To bring together Lithuanian municipalities, industry, business, science, non-governmental organisations and civil communities in order to develop innovative technologies and solutions for Smart Cities.

Local Councils’ Association (LCA)

The Local Councils' Association of Malta supports its cities and municipalities in smart cities and digitalisation efforts through advocacy, networking and knowledge sharing. It works on enhancing local governance through digital innovation, promoting sustainable urban development and improving public services through technological advancement. The LCA fosters collaboration among local councils to tackle common challenges in digital transformation, aiming to create smarter and more resilient communities across Malta.

National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria

NAMRB has a Standing Committees (SC) for digital and innovative administration. This is one of the 14 working bodies dealing with all priority topics for the municipalities. The members are 145 - elected local representatives – mayors and municipal council, as well as deputy-mayors, municipal experts and professionals from 91 municipalities. The SC provide expertise regarding the current legislation at national level and support the preparation of opinions and positions, as well as serve as network for communication and exchange of experience and best practices between the municipalities.

Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias - FEMP)

The "Smart Territories" initiative by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) supports local community members in their digital transformation by promoting the use of innovative technologies. This programme aims to enhance the quality of life, increase efficiency and foster sustainability in Spanish municipalities and provinces through the strategic application of digital solutions in public services such as urban mobility, waste management, e-government and more.

The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR - SKR)

SALAR plays a significant role in supporting cities and municipalities in Sweden with digitalization and smart city initiatives such as: handshake for digitalisation; architecture, security; data-driven development; digital participation; digital infrastructure . SALAR facilitates knowledge sharing, advocates for local government interests and promotes the development of digital infrastructure and services to enhance public welfare and democratic processes.

Union of Cyprus Municipalities (UCM)

UCM’s current projects include (among others) the reform of the Local Authorities, the implementation of a Unified Central Electronic Governance System for all municipalities, the provision of training for capacity building for the staff and elected representatives of local authorities. Another UCM’s important task is to encourage and to provide guidance to the municipalities for preparing Strategic Plans for their sustainable development.

Union of Polish Metropolises

The UPM has an internal group which consist of the 12 IT directors and Smart City experts from their member cities. They work and meet regularly. They prepare to build common IT infrastructure and services project in the future.
