Focus of the webinar

Procurement of digital solutions, services and applications is essential for public administrations as it enables them to leverage technology to improve public services, enhance efficiency, and address complex societal challenges. By fostering innovation through procurement, cities and governments can facilitate their smart, sustainable and human-centred transformation.

To support cities and regions in their innovative procurement efforts, the European Commission, with the support of diverse stakeholders, is working on the development of standardized procurement templates and guidelines. The templates are in the making and are aimed to serve as a go-to resource for communities when procuring digital and technical solutions, services, and applications.

Context of the webinar

For its next webinar, the Legal working group of Living-in.EU will organise an in-depth info session to present the procurement support package developed as part of the EU support services for smart communities.

The webinar will focus on why the procurement support package is developed, the types of templates and guidelines that it includes, and how they can be accessed by cities and regions through the Living-in.EU movement and the Online Procurement Helpdesk for Smart Communities. The speakers will provide a guided read-through of the templates for tender specifications and technical specifications, with a detailed overview of their structure.

In the second half of the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion and Q&A session, where they can share their needs, challenges and best practices in procuring digital objects, as well as learn about the ways to provide more in-depth feedback on the presented templates and guidelines.
