AI for Smarter Cities: Understanding the Basics and Real-World Applications

What is Artificial Intelligence, really - and how can it help your city?
This online session, organised by the Living-in.EU Education & Capacity Building Working Group and hosted by ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs), invites city officials and local public servants to discover the basics of AI in an accessible, practical, and inspiring way.
Often associated with tools like ChatGPT or big tech innovations, AI is much more than that. It is already reshaping how public administrations across Europe deliver smarter services, engage with citizens, and make cities more liveable and inclusive.
Through an easy-to-follow introduction and four real-life case studies, this webinar will explore:
What AI is and how it works
Where AI is already being used in city governance
How AI can support smarter, fairer, and more sustainable urban development
No technical background is required, just curiosity and a desire to explore what’s possible.
This webinar is designed for:
Local government officials and city staff
Public sector professionals interested in digital transformation
Municipal project managers, planners, and innovation officers
Whether you are new to AI or want to see how others are already applying it, this session is for you.
